Chinese Society for Biomaterials (CSBM)

Chinese Society for Biomaterials (CSBM) is a legal social organization that is national, non-profit, and academic. It is established according to the law, and voluntarily formed by scientific and technological workers and units engaged in biomaterials science and technology in China. It is an important social force driving the development of biomaterials in China. CSBM is one of the founding members of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE) on behalf of China.

CSBM was formerly known as Chinese Committee for Biomaterials (CCBM).In order to promote the development of biomaterials in China, all CCBM members reached the consensus of founding CSBM as early as in 2007 CCBM Plenary Meeting. This has been achieved through 5-year endeavor, under the support of Academician Shi Changxu and the guidance from China Association for Science and Technology. On July 13, 2011, Ministry of Civil Affairs of China officially approved of the preparation for establishing CSBM (MH[2011] No. 194) after reviewed by State Council. On April 6, 2012, CSBM Founding Ceremony and 1st Member Congress was held in Beijing successfully.
