Academician Zhang Xingdong, Honorary President of CSBM, Named Among Global People’s “2024 Person of the Year – Leaders of New Quality Productivity”

On December 20, the “Cohesion & Strength 2025” Global People Annual Ceremony was held at the People’s Daily campus. During the event, Global People magazine, sponsored by People’s Daily, announced its 2024 Person of the Year – Leaders of New Quality Productivity. Academician Zhang Xingdong, Honorary President of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials (CSBM), was selected!

Zhang Xingdong is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Honorary President of CSBM, Professor at Sichuan University, and a materials scientist and engineer. Born in Nanchong, Sichuan Province in 1938, he pioneered the research field of osteoinductive biomaterials and made significant contributions to advancing China’s bioactive artificial bone and implants to the international advanced level. His concept of “tissue‑inducing biomaterials” was included in the “21st Century Definition of Biomaterials,” marking the first time the field had a “definition from China.”

Global People magazine featured an in‑depth report on Academician Zhang Xingdong in its 2024 Issue No. 24 (Serial No. 531) under the title “Developing New Quality Productivity Requires Reaching for the Sky and Being Grounded.”
