CESB 2026 | 9th China-Europe Symposium on Biomaterials in Regenerative Medicine Opens in Beijing

 2026/5/11    IUSBSE

BEIJING – May 11, 2026 – The 9th China-Europe Symposium on Biomaterials in Regenerative Medicine (CESB 2026) officially opened on the morning of May 11 at the Beijing International Convention Center, marking the 20th anniversary of this distinguished conference series.

The opening ceremony featured addresses by Prof. Chen Xuesi (President, Chinese Society for Biomaterials, CSBM), Prof. Luigi Ambrosio (Past President, European Society for Biomaterials, ESB), Prof. Zhao Yuliang (Past President, CSBM), and Prof. Nicholas Dunne (President, ESB). Together, they reflected on the 20-year journey of the symposium.

CESB 2026 is co-organized by CSBM, ESB, Peking University’s School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. The four-day symposium (May 10–13) includes:

l 8 plenary lectures

l 16 keynote sessions

l Over 200 oral presentations

l 180 poster displays

Key topics cover AI for biomaterials science, bone-regenerative biomaterials, nanomaterials and nanomedicine, and biomaterials for drug/gene/vaccine delivery. Nearly 500 experts and scholars from different countries and regions are attending. Concurrent events include a Young Scientist Forum, a Biomaterials Journal Forum, and an Industrialization Forum.

The CESB series was initiated in 2006 by Prof. Zhang Xingdong (then President of CSBM) and Prof. Luigi Ambrosio (then President of ESB). Over the past two decades, the symposium has become a vital platform bringing together leading experts from academia, industry, and clinical fields in China and Europe, facilitating the translation of cutting-edge research in biomaterials and regenerative medicine, and serving as an important window for showcasing China’s scientific strength and fostering international collaboration.
